Hiyas,
I'm close to finishing the Prefab 08. This prefab, just like the 05 was inspired by a picture that I saw of one of Arthur Erickson's houses, the Castanier house in this case. I had scrapped two different builds earlier - one did look like a 1950s resthome for old people, the other was simply a bigger version of the 04. While the bigger version of the 04 certainly wasn't bad, it was just a variation of a build I had already done before and I was looking for something new and different. I was also looking for a build that had at least as much attention to detail than the 07.
When I was researching the Prefab 05 I already had seen pictures of the Castanier house. I immediately liked its form and wanted to build a prefab based on this form. But back then I decided that it had to wait. So after having scrapped those two earlier 08 builds, I decided that I would just start to lay around a few prims to see if/how a prefab based on the Castanier house would look like. It quickly turned out that it would not only look good, but also offer a nice challenge.
Usually I try to build my prefabs on pretty even coordinates so I can use the input boxes for position and prim size as often as possible. Since the main hall of the Prefab 08 is a rounded shape, that was not possible, so I had to build the house using techniques that I usually do not use - simply by resizing prims using the edit tools and positioning them "by moving them by hand" instead of putting in nubers into the position boxes.
Even tho I had to use those not exaclty precise methods to build it, I think it turned out pretty well:)
I'm still finishing the final furnishing details, but I expect the furniture not to change radically. The ground halogen lights are scripted - they will turn on automatically at dusk and turn off at dawn. If you want to take a look at the prefab, its rezzed right next to the Prefab 05, but on Dharma's sister island - Samsara Isle.

I'm also thinking about adding a pool area behind the house, but that will probably have to wait until I have boxed this one and put it up for sale.
So I hope you like the new prefab - the SLURL to the house is: http://slurl.com/secondlife/samsara%20isle/10/140/23/
